We have seen a rise in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) conducted over the past few decades. Outcomes research is a broad, complex, and holistic methodological discipline that aims to provide effectiveness data about the benefits, results, and real-world impact of interventions in practice.
Health economics
is used to inform resource allocation decisions, define effective policies, and assess the impact on populations. The discipline bridges economics and healthcare and has a critical seat on the table when making healthcare decisions. It has become necessary in the healthcare sector – both from a system and personnel standpoint – to acquire the skills to conduct and evaluate health economic and outcomes research.
Both health economics and outcomes research analyses require a considerable amount of resources to perform, and one paramount resource is the personnel needed.
The research and analyses rely on obtaining information from several sources and involve input from numerous individuals. The assortment of data and people (those who will collect, assess, and decide) are all interconnected and influence an analysis output. Scaling innovative and impactful interventions requires effective teams. Effective teams bring shared goals and diverse knowledge to the table. Just as you would create a team before building or incorporating a product or service, the same applies to building a great team to conduct and evaluate this type of research (or research in general).
